Subterranean Termite Control

Subterranean termites, if left to their own devices, can cause thousands of dollars of damage.  Unfortunately, these destructive pests consume wood from the inside out, so most property owners don’t realize there’s an issue until it’s too late and the damage has been done.  To combat these insects, Keller’s Pest Control uses Termidor.  This liquid termite treatment not only kills your uninvited termite guests but helps prevent future infestations of your home or business!

As Termidor Certified Professionals, our pest control technicians are trained for this exact situation.  They treat the structure by applying a liquid termite treatment along the foundation walls or perimeter of the structure.  This establishes the “Termidor Zone”, a protective area around the structure that is undetectable and unavoidable to termites.   This treatment is effective because it kills the termites it comes in contact with PLUS it is spread to other termites through contact.  The result - complete termite elimination!

Drywood Termite Control

At Keller Pest Control, we recommend tent fumigation to exterminate drywood termites that have infested residential dwellings, commercial buildings, boats, trains, and cars.

Sulfuryl fluoride is the gas fumigant is extremely effective in exterminating pests.

It works by penetrating the entire infested areas and eliminates termites (and other pests such as adult roaches, moths, rodents, etc.  A higher rate of fumigant will also eliminate bed bugs and re-infesting beetles.) without leaving behind a residue or damaging the property.

Wood-Destroying Organism Inspections

In addition to providing termite control to residential and commercial properties in Manatee and Sarasota counties as well as throughout much of our service area, Keller’s Pest Control offers WDO inspection and reporting services.  To learn more, please visit our WDO Inspection page.

Termite Control Frequently Asked Questions

What is a termite swarm?

A termite swarm occurs when an established colony reaches a certain size and is either searching for a new source of food and/or new breeding grounds.  They squeeze themselves through cracks crevices, and any other opening they believe will lead them out, often following light.  Since they are attracted to light, you will often find them near windows or artificial light.

When do termites in Florida swarm?

Eastern subterranean termites typically swarm between February and March while drywood termites swarm between May and June.

How do you tell the difference between subterranean termites and drywood termites?

  • Subterranean termites nest below ground, while drywood termites need no ground contact.  Both species feed on any seasoned wood.
  • When they have wings, subterraneans have a single dark vein that runs parallel to the top of their wing, drywoods have a complex system of 3-4 veins per wing that have a rainbow-colored appearance.
  • Subterranean excrement is non-rigid and cardboard-like, used when building the mud tubes.  Drywood excrement is more rigid and pushed out of their nests through “kick-out” holes, leaving behind tiny mounds around the infested areas that look like piles of pepper, known as pellets.  Under a microscope, these pellets have six concave sides.
  • Neat, line-shaped patterns of travel in softwoods is evidence of subterranean termites.  Drywoods prefer eating across the wood grain, leaving galleries and excrement along the way.

How should I choose a termite control company?

  • When choosing a termite control company, you should look for local businesses that are well versed in local pest infestations and use up-to-date methods with high-quality chemicals.
  • You’ll also want to check the certifications and licenses carried by the business and their technicians.
  • Lastly, check reviews online or in local business magazines.  They offer a variety of first-hand experiences of real customers who have dealt with the company.
